Maluma & J Balvin Are Sorry But Not Really 'Que Pena' Video: Watch

Lo bueno se hace esperar (Good things make you wait) and Maluma and J Balvin know it. After many years, the Colombian stars finally released their first song together, “Que Pena,” on Friday (Sept. 27).

Produced by Edgar Barrera, Sky Rompiendo and DeeMad and written by Maluma, J Balvin, Barrera, Alejandro Ramirez and Wissem Larfaoui, the song is an infectious mid-tempo track about the superstars pretending to be sorry that they can't remember two women's names, while kindly remembering their faces and, of course, the good times. The lyrics explain, "Ey Que Pena, tu nombre no, pero tu cara me suena" (Hey so sorry, not your name, but your face looks familiar).

For months, both Colombian superstars have talked about the possibility of recording a song together. In 2018, J Balvin spoke with Billboard about his desire to work with Maluma, as his goal is to create a movement for the new generation of urban singers in Colombia. "If Maluma and I can support each other to start a movement and inspire others, we will do it," he said at the time.

“Que Pena” was released alongside a video in which both Maluma and J Balvin make fun of each other as friends join a private party and they meet the two mean they can’t fully remember but spend a great time with regardless. The clip was filmed in New York City by director Colin Tiley.
