Dr Agnibh Mukherji's musical adaptation of the poem Pujarini written by Rabindranath Tagore, singer Anwesha Datta Gupta
Pujarini is a poem written by Tagore in 1926 and later adapted into the play Natir Puja in the same year. It tells the Buddhist story of Sreemati, a court dancer who sacrificed her life by deciding to become a disciple of Lord Buddha when the grandson of the great emperor Ashoka, Ajatashatru, was trying to revive the Vedic form of worship in the face of widespread veneration for Lord Buddha.
