Wybe Gerard van Haersma Buma ( Den Haag, 15 December 1924 - Scheveningen, 28 August 1998 ) trompet, vocals
Wybe Buma volgde al op zeer jeugdige leeftijd trompetlessen. Tijdens de jaren 1941-1943 speelde hij bij de Blue Rhythm Gangsters van Eric Krans en kort na de oorlog bij de Dixieland Pipers. Zoals zovelen speelde hij zich via deze weg in de belangstelling van Peter Schilperoort en zijn orkest. Wybe zou al de opvolger van Joost van Os worden, maar Kees van Dorser kreeg de voorkeur. In 1953 komt Buma alsnog bij de DSCB. Precies in een periode waarin de band steeds vaker gaat optreden en ook regelmatig op de radio te beluisteren is. Ook het opnemen van grammofoonplaten begint routine te worden. Wybe is er bij als de eerste LP, direct een opname met publiek, wordt gemaakt. Wybe is ook het eerste orkestlid die een vocale bijdrage aan een plaatopname levert (Ice Cream – juni 1959). In december 1959 neemt Buma, samen met Kesber en Schrier, afscheid van de DSCB. Hij speelt daarna met een eigen orkest, zes jaar bij Jan Burgers’ New Orleans Syncopators (onder de schuilnaam Peter Boss) en vanaf de start in 1966 bij de Reunion Jazz Band.
