#100daysofpractice Mark Turner’s Lennie Groove, solo piano

#100daysofpractice day 34. Mark Turner’s Lennie Groove, in an arrangement I made for solo piano where I play the top voice and as much of the second voice as I can in the right hand, and the bass line in the left. Hadn’t played this in eons but felt like playing it today. This is one of those songs — with its 5/4 left hand ostinato that falls entirely on offbeats except for one note, and its tough-as-nails melody — that keeps me honest, and it’s good to check in now and then. Watching this top view makes me want to revisit this soon and see if I can sink my body into these notes more. It feels a bit tight.
