Laura Branigan - The Lucky One, Interview and Ti Amo - The Tonight Show (1984)

The sensational pop singer Laura Branigan was invited to the TV program "The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson." This was her second appearance in this legendary and popular American late-night talk show. At the height of her music career, still with "Self Control" and "The Lucky One" on the Billboard Hot 100 chart after peaked at #4 and #20 respectively, Laura made a powerful and exciting live performance of "The Lucky One" with her tour band. After that, she talked with Johnny about her nervousness from being on the show with him that night, her shyness in childhood and adolescence, her discovery of the singing as a way to express herself, her marriage with an older men (Laurence Ross Kruteck, her husband, by then 47 years old) and the reasons of that preference for men over 40. Then she returning to the stage to made a touching performance of "Ti Amo" receiving a great, incessant and affectionate ovation from the audience to which she responded by blowing kisses. Finally, she come back again to talk with Johnny and said she finished her "Self Control Concert Tour" in USA (with two shows at the Caesars Tahoe in Lake Tahoe, Nevada on September 21 and 22, 1984) and that she was to do a promotional tour in Europe. There was a funny moment when the topic of her speaking low and husky voice after singing came to the conversation. Episode aired on Tuesday night September 25, 1984. Enjoy and share!
