"I was surrounded by courteous, brave men and women...I sang my heart out to them...and still felt them give more in return..." - Whitney Houston 💜

On March 31, 1991, Whitney's first-ever solo televised concert "Welcome Home Heroes" was broadcast live from the Naval Air Station in Norfolk, Virginia for 3,500 servicemen and women returning from The Gulf War. HBO (who broadcasted the special) worked to make it available to over 50 million cable households. Did you know? Because there were more troops than seats for the Easter Sunday show, 3,000 people from the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines and Coast Guard were invited to the dress rehearsal. 🎬
