#100daysofpractice day 40. Same cross-rhythm as yesterday (Bembe left hand, groups of 5 in right hand), my first time trying it at the piano, over All The Things You Are. There’s something about adding melody to rhythm that bumps it up a level in the difficulty department. I think it’s because melody creates its own rhythmic contour; it creates moments that want to feel shorter or longer, and those moments push against the rhythmic constraint.
