soaked through and spiralling against my will
while forests fall
Sparky is raising hell down the hall
you said sit tight
it’s a heavy day, so think light
and try to breathe right, try to breathe
so I count the seconds between
the strike and the crack
it’s four miles and closing
I'm soaked through and spiralling
but quietly spirited
wide eyed and waiting for lightning
or a second wind to allay my convictions
I can’t sit still
each thought's an offshoot and they fire at will

I keep my eyes closed when they’re fit to kill
hell bent to leave no trace of intent
