The Busy Girl Buys Beauty was the title of an article in a woman’s magazine that my mum had bought. It gave me a way into writing about how consumerism reinforces social stereotypes. Those lines at the end of the song ‘Top Tips for the Gas Cook’ etc, were also headlines from that same magazine.
