Jully Black: On Racism - @GlobalNews with @FarahNasser -- "The First Time I Was Called A ..."

"Its so amazing how powerful memories are."

"It almost silenced me."

"I would feel like I was too loud. It impacted my confidence."

"Those words pretty much silenced me for a good part of my childhood."

"I felt embarrassed even about the coil of my hair."

For those of you who are raising our next generation, it starts with us as the root and the children being the fruit and so until we are healed and strong, and have forgiven, then we can’t create a better future. Really, the conversation needs to happen and I think it’s very important for us to be vulnerable, transparent, and as the parents say ‘this is how it made me feel; this is what I experienced, you don’t have to be angry. But, tell me if this is happening in school. Tell me if this has happened at work, where ever – bring it home, let’s talk about it, because how we form the conversation, how we form the response, that’s what’s basically going to put an end to this thing." –Jully Black
