The day that Brandi Carlile and I recorded “Buried,” we had an unexpected setback with Shucked. I stepped out of the studio to take a call and came back in with that “I just cried” voice right before we laid down vocals on this track.
I’m so glad that Brandi and Jessie Jo Dillon convinced me to keep this original vocal because it is true, raw, and vulnerable - everything that this record is.
