Wadda Day was created from a 3 hour jam session at AMPD Studios in Johannesburg as part of the first ever Womad South Africa. Tiki Taane from Aotearoa New Zealand linked up with local traditional musician Azah and local Amapiano producers TPO and TTZ to see if they could cross polinate their musical styles and cultures.
The result is a soulful, bass heavy, sunset vibe that describes Tiki’s “unforgettable journey” in South Africa, a place he now has strong connections with.
“This was a beautiful experience for me. To share our culture, our stories, our struggles, our dreams, and our music with each other is a powerful potion. And to now have a song that represents that experience is liberating” says Tiki Taane.
