Tabs visually represent the music and provide two crucial pieces of information:
Number 1: Which string to play? (String Identification)
Number 2: Which fret to press? (Fret Position)
The four horizontal lines correspond to the four bass strings: E A D G, from low to high.
The bottom line represents the E string, while the top line represents the G string.
Numbers on the lines tell you which frets to play. Let's check out some examples:
If you see a "3" on the second line, it means play the 3rd fret of the A string.
When you come across a "0" on any line, it means play the string open, in this case the open D string.
If you spot two or more notes stacked vertically, play them together simultaneously.
