On the eve of JOHN LENNON's 80th birthday, the John Lennon Estate, the Empire State Building and Universal Music Group paid tribute to his life and legacy by lighting up the world-famous tower. Sean Ono Lennon was on hand to flip the switch in honour of his father, illuminating the iconic building in sky blue (with a rotating white peace sign in the top mast) from sunset to 2 am on Lennon’s birthday.
The celebration coincides with the release of a new album titled GIMME SOME TRUTH. THE ULTIMATE MIXES. (Capitol/UMe), which collects together 36 of Lennon’s most vital and best-loved songs from his solo career. Executive Produced by Yoko Ono Lennon and Produced by Sean Ono Lennon, the songs have all been completely remixed from the original multitracks, radically upgrading their sonic quality and presenting them as a never-before-heard Ultimate Listening Experience.
