Bridal Ballad - Hayley Westenra in concert - Manchester 2004 [subtitles are available]

Hayley Westenra singing Bridal Ballad, music by Jocelyn Pook, from the film Merchant of Venice. The Bride tries to convince us that she is happy, but her lover D'Elormie, killed in battle, is always on her mind. The words are from a poem by Edgar Allan Poe (abridged).

Recorded in 2004 and recently re-discovered by HWI member Andrew. Sung by Hayley at her concert in Bridgewater Hall, Manchester UK and recorded by Joe M on 24 March 2004, through a gap between two seats.

This song performed by Hayley is available on the following studio albums: the official soundtrack of "The Merchant of Venice", The UK Special Edition of "Pure" and the UK original edition of "Odyssey".

The early and later parts of the recording are 'washed out' unfortunately due to the dark background and automatic camera, but the middle section isn't too bad, and the sound is good other than some occasional clipping distortion at times - always a risk with camcorders. Joe's unavoidably shaky original footage has been straightened and stabilized as much as possible.

Many thanks to Andrew and Joe. Edits and upload by Dave for HWI. We hope you like it.
