The Bhavishya Purana states an incident where Lord Ganesha gave a dance performance as a child.
In the incarnation of Nataraja, Lord Shiva is depicted as a cosmic dancer who performs divine dance to obliterate an exhausted universe and then arranges for the process of creation by Lord Brahma.
The Mahapurana describes that on that day of celebration Shiva was bounded by all the gods and deities and he was performing the Tandav and the entire universe was enraptured by the beauty and power of his dance.
Young Ganesha, who had always admired his father's dance, felt a deep desire to join in the cosmic dance. However, his rotund form and the weight of his elephant head made it difficult for him to replicate his father's moves.
Determined and undeterred, Ganesha began to dance in his unique way. His dance was filled with pure devotion, innocence, and love for his father and mother. As he danced, the heavens and the earth trembled, and all the gods and goddesses marveled at the divine beauty of his dance.
Lord Shiva, moved by his son's sincere devotion, halted his own Tandava and embraced the little one and eventually, Ganesha was awarded the title of Gananayaka; lord of the Gana’s, outliers and people of the fringes. shiva’s tribe .
