"Lille Venn" is the first single from an album in Norwegian that’s coming out in the fall of 2021. I was hired to translate about twenty of my English songs into my Norwegian dialect for a play called "Virvelvind" at the Regional Theatre in my hometown, Molde, Norway. I got so inspired by this process that I decided to record some of these new Norwegian versions. I’ve previously released two Norwegian tracks, "Du gråter så store tåra" and "Virvelvind", and it was a very positive experience to recreate the stories and imagery from my English songs in my own mother tongue and dialect. I love writing in English, it’s such a rich language! I was uncertain of how it would work in Norwegian, but I found it both intuitive and inspiring, and a much easier process than I expected.
"Lille Venn" was originally released as the song "Honey" and it’s a love song to myself as a teenager. It came to life after I found a tape recording of myself at 18 years old, talking about life, love, summer festivals and friends! I was so moved by hearing my young voice and at the same time knowing all the things I would go through in the next couple of decades. I felt so much love for that young girl.
