This is another one of those songs that can be taken from a parallel perspective of being, you know, me the artist, singing all of these wonderful promises, but also should be seen as Prometheus once again proclaiming, not necessarily only to Pandora, but this is kind of his promise to humanity because when he was banished, he determined that he was going to take humanity under his wing because part of why he was banished from having Mount Olympus in the first place was because he kept busting balls at the gods, that they were neglecting one of their major, major investments, which was humans, because to Prometheus' understanding it was the gods who created humanity. That was their project. And Prometheus felt as if the Gods weren't paying enough attention to these particular assets as anything more than only assets that they were neglecting the emotional well-being and the spiritual well-being of their creations. And basically this is one of the reasons, the pressure that Prometheus was putting on the other Gods, who want to look after their investments because he felt that they only cared about their investments as far as the power that they accumulated from it and what it did for their portfolios. And Prometheus was basically banished for reminding them that a universal law is that each of us have to be willing to be responsible for the energy that we create. He didn't feel as if the Gods were living up to that. So it was Prometheus saying not only am I going to take it upon myself to bring fire, to bring consciousness to them, but I'm also going to do it just to spite these bitches, these Gods. So basically, there was also just a little bit of cheeky malice also in Prometheus's desire to raise the consciousness of who he felt the Gods were neglecting. So that's where that the impetus behind it comes from. But if I'm also honest and to give credit, the idea for the actual music, I was, I had fallen asleep in front of the fireplace listening to something on YouTube. And when I woke up, I was kind of awakened by one of my favorite bands from the past, the band "Lush". One of my favorite songs of all time is one of their records, "For Love.". If you listen to The Things U like with a careful ear, you can hear some of the influence of Lush, I believe, in that particular piece of music. So that's where "The Things U Like" came from, is me kind of waking up in a half nap and hearing something and deciding that I liked it and recording the basic idea, but then later realizing where I got it from, which was, again, I was inspired by Lush. In the end you can look at this song from two perspectives. Prometheus pledging his fealty to humanity, as well as the artist or the person saying, this is how I feel about you. Just to please you, to keep you happy, that's what I'm here to do. And that's what I'm determined to do, is just to give you the things you like and give you the life that I think ultimately you, as a person and as a member of the human race, deserve. It's a very positive and beautiful message. It is.
