"Magnet and Steel" - Walter Egan & Donna Loren (2011)

"After returning from 15-years living in Hawaii I had a yearning to get back into the studio. My friend Maurice Gainen’s LA recording studio became my go-to. While still living in Hawaii, another studio opened up for me in Waimea, not far from where I was living at the Mauna Kea. My "Love It Away" album was conceived there and I Skyped with Maurice to do long-distance tracks when I could not be in LA. To be clear, my first studio recording experience was when I was 8 years old, so studios always felt like my second home.
I met Walter Egan soon after landing on the mainland, in California… Beverly Glen Canyon to be exact!
Walter is a down-to-earth fellow and generously offered to cover his own song with Me❣️💋" - Donna Loren

"Magnet and Steel" was a hit single written and performed by Walter Egan and released in March 1978. It was the first and biggest hit on his second solo LP, "Not Shy". The record reached number eight on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and number nine in Canada. It spent a total of 22 weeks on the American charts.

Donna Loren was the one-and-only "Dr Pepper Girl" from 1963 to 1968. She was signed to a long-term contract with the soft-drink company to sing all television and radio commercials, do all magazine and billboard advertising representing them in every capacity, sometimes sharing the spotlight with American Bandstand's Dick Clark. This relationship led to her touring in Dick Clark's Caravan of Stars with other popular acts like Diana Ross and The Supremes and singing solos in the popular Beach Party films starring Annette Funicello and Frankie Avalon. Later, she became the regular female vocalist on the popular 60's American live rock n roll TV show "Shindig" and she appeared in singing and acting roles in many iconic TV shows like Batman, The Monkees, Gomer Pyle, The Mothers-In-Law, Red Skelton, Milton Berle and various game shows. She's released 22 singles, an LP album and 4 CD's. You can find her music on all major streaming services.
