Sitting with Dre, Paxton Baker (Former head of Centric BET) at the Sunset Marquis in LA the day of the 2020 Grammys and sudden passing of NBA great Kobe Bryant. We were all intensely discussing the long overdue, upcoming UpTown Records, 3 night docuseries on BET over chicken and waffles, lox, bagels and some OJ. In typical, unselfish Andre fashion we went from his docuseries to discussing his roll as exec producer of “The Al B. Sure! Life Story” and how his series would serve as the “Marvel Comics” version to spawn all of his superhero artists life stories to come. All of that being said, I’m forever grateful that Andre believed in these kids from $ Earnin’ Mount Vernon!
