• “bite the sand” was originally going to be a trip-hop/IDM track inspired by “Burn the Witch” by Radiohead.

• The two main inspirations for what “bite the sand” sounds like now, were “Vapor Trails” by Grouper and “A Quick One Before The Eternal Worm Devours Connecticut” by Have A Nice Life.

• “bite the sand” got its title due to an unused verse (when it was originally a trip-hop/IDM track) where Jesse Greene tells his son, Nate Greene to not run around too much or else he’ll fall down and “bite the sand.”

• I couldn’t decide whether or not I wanted a “long” ambient opener or a high energy introduction to the album. I decided that the “long” ambient opener was the best choice for the story of the record; even though a part of me thought that, musically, this wouldn’t be a particularly “smart” decision.

Those were things to remember about “bite the sand.”

Thank you! :)
