The Northern Pikes’ Iconic Top-10 Hit “She Ain’t Pretty” Relaunched With Acoustic Makeover
The new version of “She Ain’t Pretty” is taken from The Pikes’ forthcoming LP TIME to TIME, which reimagines the best-loved tracks from its platinum-selling 1990 Snow In June release, alongside three brand new tunes.
The song retains its original template, including its driving rhythms and signature piano parts, combined with a touch of twang. It sounds both fresh and familiar, particularly for anyone that’s seen or heard the band across its myriad media appearances.
“That was the easiest track to record for TIME to TIME,” said Bryan Potvin, the song’s lead vocalist and The Pikes’ lead guitarist. “For decades, the band would visit radio stations for interviews, and often we would play it acoustically. So, it was somewhat pre-arranged prior to making the new album. It’s very true to the original version, only now with acoustic guitars.”
TIME to TIME arrives on digital platforms and store shelves in just a few weeks on June 9.
