“Hidden Gem” carries on the record grappling with feelings of isolation, even though this too was written before we knew what was headed for us. More than the others, though, I feel like this song is about writing songs, and how the creative process can feel tedious until your creative spark is ignited by an unexpected turn of phrase or chord change. Sometimes you have to go way out there to find something good - it’s probably the reason most writers are beautifully weird. ~Colin
