It was about April 2020.
I was reeling from the realisation that all my gigs were gone from 2020.
It was a kind of mourning.
I was missing the gigs so much. I still am.
My friend Steve Cooney had just released his beautiful album of old harp tunes.
I sat with my nylon string Lowden at home, and began to slowly learn this tune, in my own way.
Over the following days and weeks, I could feel my breath slowing, my anxiety easing.
Leaning into this music, the days softened.
This music took the edge off my nerves.
Thank you Steve for encouraging me to do this.
Thank you Adam for the gorgeous fiddle, and of course Jono, for the lovely touches on electric guitar, double bass and everything else.
