Can anyone out there relate ? Share your thoughts and feelings on how the lyrics of this song hit you then or now! This one hits hard in this chapter and I’m grateful to always be able to sing it from an authentic place that speaks to the power of music 🎵
36 Years ago “Foolish Beat” hit #1 on the Billboard Charts making me the youngest artist in history to write, produce, and sing a #1 pop song. I am still the youngest female to date. I would become the 2nd youngest a year later with “Lost in Your Eyes”. I attribute this to quite simply knowing what I wanted my record to sound like and overseeing the arrangement , musicians, vocal parts, and crafting my performance and overseeing the mix and the mastering. All key steps to achieving the sound !
Eternally grateful to Fred Zarr who truly was my producing mentor and collaborator or sole producer on all of my early hits and Atlantic Records my first label… together we made and released a lot of fun and meaningful art. And… Mama Di 🍸 who broke ground advocating for my creative freedom !
As you can see, I’ve always loved performing this song! Here I am in 1988 and 2024 in my EY tour look in Hawaii alongside my OG sax man Adam Tese rocks FB then and now ! 🎷
