Mary Bisson - Better Times Will Come (Janis Ian) solo Horn

If memory serves, Mary and I first met through her brother, the author Terry Bisson. Considered one of the best short story writers in the world, Terry and I were emailing back and forth one day about a classical piece, and he casually mentioned that his sister played with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. Somehow, I began corresponding with her, and when I began this project she was one of the first people I invited. She played Third Horn with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra for 34 years, was on faculty at the Peabody Institute of Music at Johns Hopkins University for 14 years, and also managed to work with the Sunderman Music Conservatory at Gettysburg College. Between all that, she managed to be a founding member of the Barry Tuckwell Institute and serve as its director. Now retired, you can find her as she is in this video, with her dogs nearby, and crickets chirping loudly enough to provide a second soundtrack!
