Pastoral is an addendum to "Fleurie," which I just released. It's the essence of Fleurie, but without the activity of the piano. I also subtracted the majority of high frequencies, which pulled me in. Pastoral put me to sleep as I finished it on a flight...I hope it does the same for you. It reminds me of what I was trying to do in "Debris" and "Ancestral."
The photo was taken in a part of rural Nebraska that I spent a lot of time in as a child. I captured it after a thunderstorm one summer night (on 35mm film) and the resulting grain and absence of light made for something impressionistic that really moved me.
