I've been dying to give Spitfire Audio's new BBC Symphony Orchestra plug-in a good workout, so here's the first couple of minutes of Mahler's 6th 'Tragic' Symphony, programmed note-for-note in Logic Pro, exclusively using samples from BBCSO. I used a video (with her permission) of Marin Alsop conducting the piece as my 'click track'--you can see her in the top left corner. It took me about a day and half to program! It's generally easier to program epic modern orchestral 'trailer music' using sample libraries, than it is to faithfully recreate the sound of a classical symphony; but I hope Gustav Mahler would not be ashamed of me.
