The success of the Arts in Corrections (AIC) programs demonstrates that arts initiatives have powerful benefits for those experiencing incarceration. They are designed to have a positive effect on the behavior and attitudes of the incarcerated by promoting interpersonal and social transformation both inside and outside of the boundaries of their institutions. Music Education provides people experiencing incarceration with an immediate, direct, and positive impact on their personal health and welfare.
