Twista released his third studio album and first charting album, Adrenaline Rush, in 1997. But fans would have to wait several years before being blessed with another album. Finally on January 27, 2004, Twista dropped Kamikaze, with features from artists like Kanye West, Jamie Foxx, T.I., CeeLo Green, Ludacris and more. Debuting at the top spot of American Billboard 200 album chart, this was the album that gave birth to Twista’s most popular songs to date: “Overnight Celebrity” and “Slow Jamz.”

Given the years the albums were apart, Twista responded to critics stating, "I represent for the MCs that have skills, not just make music for the hell of it. I take the time to concentrate. Otherwise, I could have 10 albums out there, easy. I could sit down all day and write something. But I write when I get in a zone more than writing because I’ve got to do this. I represent the artists that keep it true to what really is, to be able to make rappers want to write."

The album went on to achieve platinum success and Twista was sitting at the top of his game. The same year as the release of the album, Twista went on to be nominated at the 2004 Vibe Awards for “Best Comeback,” and won. This award to Twista represents perseverance, showing that dedication and diligence to your craft does not go unnoticed.
