"This two-song appearance on the live TV show called Fridays took place in Los Angeles during the week John Lennon was shot. That's why I took a moment between songs to say hello to everybody back in New York City. My ad-lib was edited out by the time the show aired in the Central and Mountain and Pacific zones. The performance was impaired by my counting off the second song, “Get Well Soon”, extremely fast.

In the rehearsal, the director had asked me to shorten it by not singing the last chorus twice. I had no problem with that but had he known how fast it was actually gonna be..." - Steve Forbert
