George's Journal - Day 83: Weekend Sunrise

March 24th, 2024

The day kicked off before the sun, with a 6am alarm ahead of our "Weekend Sunrise" appearance on Channel 7. The morning was a flurry of activity, including a minor panic when we realized our hired drum kit was missing its cymbals. Thankfully, our manager Alex was quick on his feet, securing a replacement set just in time for our two-song performance and interview.

Post-TV success, the girls and I grabbed breakfast, then I was gifted the rest of the day off. Blessed with stunning weather, I opted for a solo bike ride through Darling Harbour and down to Circular Quay, immersing myself in the breathtaking views of Sydney Harbour—a sight that never fails to amaze, particularly on a day like today.

My adventure took me past iconic landmarks like the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Opera House, where I paused for a refreshing lemon lime bitters at the Opera Bar. Energized, I ventured into the Royal Botanic Gardens, a serene escape that offered a perfect blend of nature and tranquility.

The spontaneous spirit of the day led me to the Art Gallery of New South Wales, enriching the afternoon with cultural delights. These unplanned journeys are my favorite, allowing my instincts to guide me through the city's treasures.

The evening transitioned to a BBQ at our publicist Trent Titmarsh's house in Surry Hills. The setting sun cast a golden glow over the gathering, making for a picturesque end to the day. As we watched the replay of our morning TV performance, we shared laughs and a touch of self-conscious cringing.

With another early morning at Channel 7 looming, we wrapped up the night and headed back to the hotel, hearts and minds full from a day well-spent.

What an incredible day!

Until tomorrow,

G.Shep xx
