Went to college and to student loans became a slave
Worked a 9-5, that rarely gave out a raise
And I woulda quit rappin’ throwin’ this passion away, uh

You can blame my, creative writing teacher in high school
She got me high on poetry welcome to flight school
My homework assignment was writin' some poems
And now Im spittin’ fire out the mouth like I’m a Samoan
Okay I’m blowin’ this a little bit out of proportion
But if it wasn’t for that class I would not be recordin’
You see forgettin' your beginnings could lead to misfortune

Except for this one day, when my father sat me down
He said to stop rappin' if I wanna make this family proud
Man that was hard to shake, like a shot to the face
But now when I get up on stage, I can see him standing in the crowd
The lesson learned, is I just need to be me
Aimin’ to be excellent even when life ain’t easy
