Tom Scullin - The Girl in Aisle Two

It was springtime in Ohio
and I had paid my dues
singing songs to empty chairs
in a christian pair of shoes
and I'll admit
I had my fill of country, rock and blues
that's when I looked around
and saw the girl in aisle two

She looked at me as if I had
a voice of solid gold
and clapped her hands in perfect time
I started to grow bold
and I sang those songs like I never had
the feeling grew and grew
and I owed it all to the girl
the girl in aisle two

Now I'm standing on the stage
of an unlit concert hall
forgetting lines of melodies
I can almost recall
but I remember as if yesterday
the girl in aisle two
yes I'll always have that melody
sweet melody of you

From Ohio down to Nashville
a town in Tennessee
I sang my songs
for a brand new record company
and while I did I closed my eyes
and knew just what to do
play those songs and think about
the girl in aisle two

The road from there is history
I guess I've done it all
twenty years of singing songs
gold records on the wall
and I never even knew her name
I never had a clue
to me she'll always be the girl
the girl in aisle two

Now I'm standing on the stage
of an unlit concert hall
forgetting lines of melodies
I can almost recall
but I remember as if yesterday
the girl in aisle two
yes I'll always have that melody
sweet melody of you
