Rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine revealed this week that he recently spent two days in a Florida hospital after he washed weight loss pills down with too much McDonald’s coffee. A source close to the artist confirmed the details of his hospitalization to Billboard.
Speaking to The Shade Room, the “Gooba” MC explained that after taking double the recommended dose of Hydroxycut his heart started racing, which he exacerbated by gulping down some java.
Tekashi, who’s now recovering at home, said he was trying to lose some of his corona lockdown weight after already shedding 25 pounds on his way down to his goal weight of 150. And, because he’s on probation, he also emphasized that he is not taking any other drugs, which could lead to a violation that would send him back behind bars.
The Brooklyn rapper has kept a relatively low profile over the past few weeks since dropping his sophomore album TattleTales on Sept. 4. In April, he was released from jail after serving 13 months on firearms and racketeering charges and he came off house arrest in August.
In an interview with Billboard around the time of the album’s release, he said if he had regrets about the choices that landed him in prison he wouldn’t be who he is today. “I feel like the situation I went through made me wiser, made me stronger, and made me built different,” he said. “It made me realize a lot of s–t. It’s like fundamentals, streetwise [and] just knowledge. At the end of the day, I went through some s–t where people would have ended up killing themselves.”
