Ariana Grande Takes Pole Position In U.K. Singles Chart Race

Ariana Grande is gunning for top position on the U.K. singles chart.

The pop superstar's new single "Positions" dropped Friday (Oct. 23), and it’s accumulated a massive lead in the early phases of the chart cycle.

“Positions" rules the Official Chart: First Look, which captures sales and streaming data from the first 48 hours, and is set to become Grande’s second No. 1 on the chart proper in 2020, following “Rain On Me” with Lady Gaga. It’s the most-streamed track in the U.K. so far this week.

Coming in at No. 2 on the sales blast is “Really Love” by KSI (aka Olajide William ‘JJ’ Olatunji) featuring Craig David and Digital Farm. The new track is getting fan love after the multi-hyphenate entertainer dropped its official music video -- an eye-catching VFX movie -- on his YouTube channel.

It’s the highest-selling song of the week so far, according to the OCC.

If “Really Love” holds its momentum when the Official U.K. Singles Chart is published this Friday (Oct. 30), it would be a fourth Top 10 and a career high for KSI, eclipsing the No. 3 peak for “Lighter,” his 2020 collaboration with Nathan Dawe. Also, it would mark Craig David’s highest-charting single in 17 years, since 2003’s “Rise & Fall.”

The current chart leader, Internet Money’s “Lemonade” featuring Don Toliver, Gunna & Nav, dips 1-3 on the First Look survey, while pop foursome Little Mix enjoy a fast start with new track "Sweet Melody," lifted from their forthcoming studio album Confetti. It’s new at No. 4.
