Christina Aguilera Celebrates 21st Anniversary of Self-Titled Debut Album & Reflects on Its Coincidence

Christina Aguilera recalls the crazy week that turned her into a superstar with the release of her self-tited debut album Christina Aguilera on Aug. 24, 1999.

"So crazy -- 21 years ago, I scored Reflection and my record deal in the same week. Fast forward to today, the 21st anniversary is falling on the same week my new rendition of Reflection is dropping. The stars are aligning," she wrote on social media Monday (Aug. 24) alongside a highlight reel of her oldest hits.

The video compilation looked like it was recorded on a VHS tape, rewinding through some of Xtina's earliest No. 1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100, including "Genie in a Bottle," "What a Girl Wants," and "Come On Over Baby (All I Want is You)." She ended the 48-second tribute clip with her original rendition of "Reflection," which she recorded as the theme song for the 1998 Disney animated classic Mulan and re-recorded for the 2020 live-action remake, which she has yet to officially release.
