Elton John - Breaking Down Barriers

‘Breaking Down Barriers’ is taken from Elton John’s 1981 album ‘The Fox’. The song’s melody originated in August 1980, during a TV interview with Paul Gambaccini, who asked him to spontaneously write music to the John Donne poem ‘No Man Is An Island’. Gary Osborne wrote the lyrics. As he put it, “My job was simply to fit a lyric around Elton's tune which fitted the groove while incorporating his title. It took me a day.”

Visions, originally released on VHS in 1982, was created for The Fox & noted as one of the first long-form visual albums. The videos were conceptualised by Keith Williams and directed by Russell Mulcahy and available now officially on YouTube for the first time. Watch here: https://EltonJohn.lnk.to/TheFoxPlaylistPY
