This song examines our failures with the ones we love, and the love we get back despite that. It follows a character interacting with an old friend, a lost love, and the one who loves them anyway. There's big Petty-esque guitars and a Springsteen style key change, evoking a timeless Americana soundscape. Four-part harmonies and deliberately confessional lyrics make for a tune that feels both ambitious and contemplative. The characters are real, and you can feel their wins and losses
