Additional notes: you can absolutely smash off the transients of drums with a super fast attack time and mix that sound in “in parallel” as we were doing with the slower 30 ms attack time. And the slower release time I showcased did not get its proper due here. The explosiveness we were adding had a lot to do with the fast release time of 100 ms. But I didn’t take the time here to show how that dancing/movement style of compression can also add a je ne se quois, too. That type of effect is even more subtle.
