THE GRASS ROOTS- "IT'S A CRYIN' SHAME"

Posted from the Grass Roots' 1975 VINYL album titled "The Grass Roots". Rob Grill and Dennis Provisor alternate singing parts. This is another song written by Dennis Lambert and Brian Potter who wrote a few songs for the Grass Roots. In 1971, Gayle McCormick sang this song to #44 on the Billboard Hot 100 and became a Top Ten hit on the Adult Contemporary chart. LYRICS: Love walked out the door
It's a cryin' shame we
don't have it no more.
Love walked out the door
It's a cryin' shame we
don't have it no more.
Readin' your letter
I didn't know whether
To call you up and talk again.
When I saw the name you signed,
Goin' through my mind
Was a memory of way back when.
Now all I can wish you
Is good love baby.
Sorry that it couldn't be me.
Because it felt so right,
If we'd held on tight,
I'd be with you tonight.
We never should have let our
Love walk out the door
It's a cryin' shame we
don't have it no more.
Love walked out the door
It's a cryin' shame we
don't have it no more.
I won't forget the summer
My heart was like a drummer
Just beatin' ev'ry night away.
Walkin' in the sun with you,
Baby we were one, I knew
Love was nearly ours to stay.
Now all I get to keep
Is this faded picture,
You belong to him today.
And the memory
Of a you and me
Is just a used to be.
We never should have let our
Love walk out the door
It's a cryin' shame
We don't have it no more.
Love walked out the door
It's a cryin' shame
We don't have it,
Shame we don't have it, honey.
Love fell at my feet
It's a cryin' shame
The bitter isn't the sweet.
Ohh, love slipped through my hands
It's a cryin' shame
I can't play in your band.
Oh, oh. Oh, oh.
I'm so sorry, baby
So, so sorry, baby.
Love walked out the door
It's a cryin' shame
We don't have it no more.
(Shame we don't have it no more).
Love walked out the door
It's a cryin' shame
We don't have it no more.
