Shirley Bassey appeared on a British TV show in 1971 and performed these two two songs, 1) What About Today, 2) Where Do I Begin (Love Story). The song, What About Today may not be well known, but it is a difficult song to perform live. I've listened to a few other studio recordings from top-tier vocalists who have recorded this song, but performing it live is a whole different ball game. It takes tremendous breath control, the ability to quickly move up/down multi-octave vocal scales, and then after three punishing minutes end the song with this very long high-fidelity gut busting powerful note....T O D A Y!
The second song, Where Do I Begin is from the movie Love Story starring Ryan O'Neal and Alli McGraw. Shirley's arrangement is slightly different than other vocalists of the day (Male & Female) who have recorded this song. She earned a Top #34 hit in the United Kingdom. Shirley's contemporary, Andy Williams earned a top 10 hit. However, because Shirley's (Johnny Harris) arrangement is different that just about any other artist who has recorded this song, it has held up very well over the many decades
