The Northern Pikes Acoustically Revisit Top-20 Classic Single “Kiss Me You Fool”
The Northern Pikes, revered for an incredible run of hit songs throughout the ‘80s and ‘90s, have reimagined “Kiss Me You Fool” as an acoustic tune. It’s the third single from TIME to TIME, The Pikes’ forthcoming record that also offers new spins on other deeply-loved tracks from its platinum-selling 1990 Snow In June.
Originally a buoyant pop song, the new version of the top-20 radio staple is presented in a lilting arrangement with many subtle new accents, featuring Kevin Kane on vocals. He’s best known as the co-founder, vocalist, and guitarist of the iconic Grapes of Wrath. Kane joined The Pikes full-time in 2017 and now serves double duty in both groups.
“It was pretty cool to have the band ask me to sing the lead vocal on the reimagining of this track,” said Kane. “They put me to work on using all of the new acoustic instrumentation and encouraged me to wing it creatively. We didn’t go into this album with a set-in-stone vision. So, you’ll find this new version of the song, as well as the others, pretty loose and open in a positive way.”
