'Hold Your Nerve' Lyrics
It fell apart just as it began In a flash of defiance
You would take the initiative But the rest was mine
Undermanned now to understand what a free fall can feel like
You became but a fabled dream that would blur in time
But arrest this heart
Cos sometimes a spark you know how sweet the glow, that kicks you off your line
Hold your nerve
I was not right
I was bent out
And still left on show
Waiting all that
Time in anguish
Now had left me broke
Is this the sound of a moving ground or the echoes of self-doubt
I found the wine for some peace of mind but I still can't eat
To mediate on a shifting sand takes steadfast and sure feet
You became but a fabled dream that would stir in time
But arrest this heart
Cos sometimes a spark you know, how sweet the glow, that kicks you off your line
Hold your nerve
I was not right
I was bent out
And still left on show
Waiting all that
Time in anguish
Now had left me broke
When you called me
I was anxious
And I felt exposed
But if all this
Might be worth it
Then I had to know
I’m not angry
For the time lost
That’s the turning wheel
And when you called me
I was anxious
I was terrified
But I knew then
And I know now
It was justified
See baby all that
Sweet connection
Sometimes takes its time
About The Band:
Boy & Bear first garnered attention when they uploaded their song ‘The Storm’ to triple j Unearthed in 2009. Their debut album ‘Moonfire’ (2011) reached double-platinum sales, winning them five ARIA Awards and three songs in the triple j Hottest 100.
Their sophomore album ‘Harlequin Dream’ (2013) achieved platinum sales and #1 on the ARIA Album chart, staying in the top 10 for five weeks. The band followed this up with ‘Limit Of Love’ (2015) which resulted in their second ARIA #1 album debut.
After touring the world multiple times, becoming Splendour In The Grass favourites, performing on Conan O’Brien, and selling out two consecutive Sydney Opera Houses, this iconic Australian band returned with their triumphant release ‘Suck On Light’ (2019).
Somewhere amongst all of this, they found time to record their acoustic offering ‘At Golden Retriever Studio’, (2020).
