When we consider the staggering number of people who have little or no access to the good news of Jesus Christ, the need can seem overwhelming. 3 billion souls. Many live in some of the most unreached and hostile places on earth. And yet, as David Platt reminds us in this challenging clip from Sing! Global 2020, the first step to reaching the lost is quite simple. Pray. Ask. Jesus taught, “Pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest” (Matt 9:38). God delights to call people to himself from every tribe, tongue, and nation through the preaching of the gospel, thus proving himself faithful to answer our prayers. This is why the Sing movement exists: because there is an inseparable connection between our worship—which includes our habits of personal and corporate prayer—and our calling to fulfill the Great Commission. Praying believers are missions-minded believers, and missions-minded believers are praying believers.
