The Weeknd Brings Out Kenny G for Fireworks-Laden 2020 AMAs Performance

The Weeknd entered the 2020 American Music Awards on Sunday night (Nov. 22) trying to capture the first artist of the year AMA of his career, and the pop superstar made a convincing case for himself with a spectacular performance of “In Your Eyes” and “Save Your Tears”... alongside none other than Kenny G.

Performing a block away from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, The Weekend prowled an empty freeway and sang while fireworks exploded all around him. Kudos to Abel Tesfaye for being able to navigate a technically rigorous set-up -- especially on the move, with his face bandaged (as it has been during his After Hours era), and with Kenny G, who guests on a new "In Your Eyes" remix, providing some smooth jazz at his back.

Both “In Your Eyes” and “Save Your Tears” are featured on After Hours, The Weeknd’s No. 1 album from earlier this year, which also boasts Hot 100-topping hits “Blinding Lights” and “Heartless.” The AMAs performance previews The Weekend’s recently announced Super Bowl halftime show, which he’ll headline in February 2021.
