From Steve Perry - “On our upcoming record, At The Pink Rat, there are several quasi Rockabilly songs powered by slap acoustic bass. This tune, "Take It Off, Stella" imagines a Stanley Kowalski type character trying to impress his girl at a swank, retro venue - think something like the Cicada Club in LA. His Betty Page look-a-like rockabilly date is having the time of her life while he internally grouses about how much everything is costing. Eventually his libido boils over and he transforms from a feigned sophisticated man of fashion to a bellowing working class lout. It’s just a little cartoon of a song. DON'T BE SUBOPTIMAL!!!!! HEY STELLA!!!!”

Lyrics
Nowadays everyplace has got to fleece the crowd
Foofy drinks strong and pink
For that girl I brought to swing
Straighten that collar
Aftershave too
She's lookin’ great and I can't wait to make my move
Take it off, Stella x4
Up all night x4
Don't be suboptimal x3
Straighten that collar
Aftershave too
She's lookin’ great and I can't wait to make my move
Take it off, Stella x4
Up all night x4
Don't be suboptimal x3
Leopard print pedal pushers
Lipstick
Stiletto heels
20 dollars for one drink?
I work in cement!
