John Prine & Nitty Gritty Dirt Band - Grandpa Was A Carpenter

From Jeff: NGDB celebrated our 50th Anniversary with a concert and PBS Special, filmed at the Ryman Auditorium a few years back. John Prine was among the first of our friends we asked to join us . His response was “You betcha! “ He suggested “Grandpa Was A Carpenter”, which we’d recorded together on “Circle..” Vol.2.. I asked if we could do “Paradise” as well, and he said “Sure thing! You sing the third verse !” My face broke out in a big ‘ol goofy grin. It was a night filled with memorable reunions and highlights, but playing and singing with John Prine.. Priceless. He was a National Treasure, but he was also a beautiful human being. Kind, funny, irreverent and always reminding us that he was “having the time of his life”. John adored his wonderful wife, Fiona and his sons, Jody, Tommy and Jack. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers. Rest easy, Handsome Johnny ????
