Recently re-watched Audrey Nuna's two performances from when we invited her to our DSCVR fam a couple years ago. Back then we called her the "damn right" singer because that was her biggest track thus far. Since, she's added "Comic Sans" to the list of nuggets beloved by her fans. After enjoying the moody "Space" and the squirrely "Blossom" once again, it was easy to see why we fell for her. It was also easy to see how far she'd come in the two years. 2021's "chump change" bumped pretty hard, and last summer's "IdgaF" doubled that infectious nastiness. There is one constant, however. Back then she called her approach “a weird omelette of random ingredients that for some reason is tasty.” That perspective was dead on. Variety is her strong suit, and alt is her way of life. The dreamadelic vibe of "Cellulite" (don't miss the video) is a fair stretch from the two rap tunes mentioned above. So's "locket," a keybs and beats gem which flips Huey's "Pop, Lock & Drop It" in a way that captivates immediately. She had a blast in the studio. We did, too.
