George's Journal - Day 75: Anni-surf-ary

March 16th, 2024

This morning, waking up in Casuarina, Kathleen and I were eager to greet the ocean, a magnificent sight after our landlocked life in Tennessee. Our first steps on the beach felt like a reunion with an old friend, the vast blue stretching endlessly before us.

Our beach morning kicked off with a health boost from "Shiny Brew," where we indulged in potent ginger and lemon shots, a zesty start to the day. I couldn’t help but take a moment to admire my new pink shoes once again—no endorsement here, just genuine love for their vibrant pattern and color.

With spirits high, we headed for a proper beach visit at Cabarita, to find a surf competition in full swing. We watched the surfers carve through the waves, and I seized the chance to capture the action from above with my drone.

However, our beach day dreams were quickly dashed as rain poured down, sending us sprinting back to the car. We managed a quick dip in the ocean—more of a symbolic splash than the leisurely swim we'd hoped for.

Back at the Airbnb, I concocted a mocktail from two types of sparkling water and some garden-fresh mint to ease my slight disappointment. Yet, as the rain paused, I seized the opportunity to venture out again with the drone, this time setting it to autofollow mode on Casuarina beach. Dancing alone on the vast, empty sands, I created some truly ridiculous content. I can't believe I'm actually putting it up on the internet haha.

The evening mellowed into a session of cheese and mocktails, followed by dinner at Siblings—a place woven into our hearts from our wedding week, always serving up both nostalgia and exquisite meals.

The day closed with Kathleen and I watching our wedding video, a sweet reminder of our journey together, making even a rainy beach day feel like a treasure.

Until tomorrow,

G.Shep xx
